Trapped in KLCC

I took 1/2 day leave to attend an interview today. It's in 54th floor, KLCC. I have been to KLCC for many things but for interview, this is the first time. The security is the tighter than my jeans. They can easily pass for air port security check with the metal detector and x-ray conveyor belt. The only thing missing are the drug sniffing dogs. Anyway that is meant as a compliment.

After passing the security, I realize there are a few set of different lifts. Luckily I knew tall buildings usually segregate their lifts. Aiya, even our measly not-even 20 storey office building also segregate theif lifts la.. Ok anyway, I ask the reception earlier, which one to take. She said "Lift belakang". It's already 2.25p.m and interview schedule 2.30pm. I went to the 'lift belakang' and took up to 34th floor expecting to see another lift to 54th floor. BUT.. I see nothing. Thinking on my toes and desparate I immediately jump back into another lift which brings me back to ground floor.

By then it is already 2.30p.m. Well damn.. so I rush to the security this time and asked. Fella said "Lift belakang" again but I tell him, "Lift belakang pergi tingkat 34 saja la encik". Then a bulb light on top of his head and he said, " Lift paling belakang. You jalan masuk lagi"

Usually when you ran out of time, everything just seems to go wrong. Luckily manage to find the lift paling belakang. That took me up to the 41st floor. The floor where they had the bypass bridge. It's a mezzanine floor and I start looking for a lift to bring me to 54. BUT after a quick round, I can't find it... grrr

Anyway saw a guard and asked. Guard pointed in the direction of a signboard. Signboard said, 'Lifts from 40 - 60 --> ' with the direction of arrow pointing to the escalator. So I glide up the escalator and VIOLA found a lift to 54. Now at this very very desperate state, (its 2.36pm already) I ran inside the first lift that came, scared a couple of Mat Sallehs and press 54. Guess what... it cannot register. Then only I saw 'this lift go to odd numbers ' . &^$##(@*!

OK FINE.. remembered Tapir said can take stairs one. So I press 53, hop off, look for the emergency exit and climb to 54. When I turn the door handle, it doesn't turn. Jialat! So I walked back down to 53 only to find the same situation. Jialat jialat! Great!!! Trapped...

Lucky I am used to being in trapped situations when I do my projects, so I took out my hand phone and saw '' ... Thank GOD for technology. Dialed up the head hunter and sheepishly told him I was trapped. So head hunter called up HR and they came and rescue me beramai - ramai. What a big entrance !!!

Lastly the kind HR Lady told me, "Actually if you come out of 53 floor, don't worry, you can press the up button, go back into the lift and you can press 54 already one."
